Who we are

In February 2026, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health established The Fund for Advancing Public Health LA, a new and independent foundation dedicated to expanding and protecting public health efforts across the County.

Los Angeles County continues to face persistent health inequities, barriers affecting underserved communities, and the threat of significant budget cuts. Addressing these challenges requires new resources and stronger partnerships.

The foundation has a dual purpose. First, it will generate flexible revenue that safeguards essential public health services. Second, it will help ensure that we can continue serving all residents, particularly vulnerable populations, regardless of immigration status, income, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Through the foundation, we will attract philanthropic support from businesses, private donors, and community partners while sustaining our commitment to inclusion, equity, and addressing the root causes of health inequities.

The Fund for Advancing Public Health LA will solicit and distribute funds to advance disease prevention, health promotion, environmental health, emergency preparedness and response, and policy initiatives that improve health and well-being for those who live and work in Los Angeles County.
